Don't Sleep On These MP3s #2:

*B.O.B. - haterz everywhere.mp3
This is a new Atlantic artist that my boy A&Rs, thru RebelRock (producer Jim Jonsin's production company). Produced by Ribah (i've never heard), this song is dope.
*rayl and b.o.b.-my girl got a girlfreind.mp3
Also features B.O.B. on there but I don't know who the singer is, but I really like the song and how it moves.
*Sway ft Chamillionaire - Up Your Speed Part 2.mp3
This is Sway, new grime/uk star, dope dope song
*Kanye West - Young Folks.mp3
This is just funny
*Jill Scott - Hate On Me.mp3
This is the new Jill Scott single from the new album THE REAL THING, everything you expect from Jill, amazing soul vocals, amazingly produced live horns section, silky smooth (but this song is a bit harder but I'm feelin in)

Don't Sleep on These MP3s #1:

Charlotte Gainsbourg - The Operation (Cousin Cole Remix).mp3
This remix is so on point, I've been listening to this on repeat recently.
Lil Bit ft Jung Joc, Jim Jones - Sex With My Ex.mp3
Ok, I found this song and the title should speak for itself, right? But it's even better when it breaks into the chorus. I think this song speaks to a lot of people (or just me)
Smitty - Died In Your Arms.mp3
Who uses a Cutting Crew sample? Smitty of course... and I'm a little embarrassed to say I dig it?! sdt
Wale - Good Girls (Tactic Remix).mp3
"Good girls never give it up on the first night" This is just some dope new hip hop from a talented MC, so dance. (fyi Wale is pronounced waa-lay)
Beyonce ft Young Buck - Go (Cashville Remix).mp3
Club banger, don't not listen to this cause young Buck is on the track... it's not Beyonce's fault. Produced by D. Prosper from G-Unit affiliation.
Lady Saw - Not Prettiest-clean.mp3
Ok, I personally love Lady Saw but this song is so not her normal music. It's one of those "Beautiful" by Christina, or "Unpretty" by TLC... its pretty amusing from the Dancehall queen.
DancesWithWhiteGirls - Money in the Bank Remix.mp3

Rasheeda - Type Of Gurl (Dirty).mp3

Wiley - Gangsterz.mp3

Kid Sister is performing with The Rub at the Canal Room on Sat May 26th:

Also, this Thursday at The Knitting Factory, ill be doing merch (i feel so honored...note to self: need to get a job) for DJ Vibe and Max. The line up includes The Guts, Machinedrum, and Jungletalk.

Mixtapes, mashups Justice x Jay Z, DJ Vibe and Max B

DJ Vibe and Max Barbaria have put out a couple of mixtapes out together. This new one, The Adventures of DJ Vibe and Max Barbaria, is really thoughtful, listenable all the way through and most importantly eclectic. There is tons of remixed, twisted out and just plain weirdo shit- a ton of stuff I don't know (which I like)... This mixtape is classified as sort of world music/hip hop/electroclash-ish...

You know when someone is blogging about an artist/dj whoever and you can tell that its their friend - like they are only repping them because they have to AS A FRIEND say that their shit is dope. It is totally NOT the case here, even though these fine young musicians are my friends, this mixtape with the TinTin cover (thanks to Stat), is something you should buy, if only to expand your world music knowledge...

DJ Vibe & Max B - 12 Track 12.mp3
(Donatella Rettore - Il Cobra)
DJ Vibe & Max B - 21 Track 21.mp3
(Mapei - Date Rape / Lind and the Linders - Koi Ni Shiberete)
DJ Vibe & Max B - 23 Track 23.mp3
(Omarion - Ice Box / Phones - Alsatian Remix)
DJ Vibe & Max B - 24 Track 24.mp3
(Bun B - Get Throwed / Klaxons - Golden Skans)

Recently played on EVR on Mark Ronson's (our goldenproducer boy) Authentic Shit is a catchy, well matched mashup of Justice's "D.A.N.C.E" and Jay Z's "Show Me What You Got"...

DJ Vibe and Max B - Show Me How To D.A.N.C.E - (Justice vs Jay Z) DJ Vibe and Max.m4a

p.s. this is just funny shit:

The Cool Kids are (insert something faux cheesy and ironic here)

The Cool Kids- the first signing (I believe) on Nic Catchdubs label with A-Track called Fools Gold... They are from Chi Town... I have Mickey Rocks stuck in my head...FOR DAYS

Apparently they're the new black version of the beastie boys...ha

mp3s:

Cool Kids - Mikey Rocks.mp3

Cool Kids - One Two.mp3

Catchdubs played this on eastvillageradio recently and its so dope... Lloyd x Technotronic... I love love love this

Them Jeans: Rich Girls v. I'm A Flirt

R. Kells Likes Rich Girls Too!

So Them Jeans from LA often seen spinning with Steve Aoki just did a blend of The Virgins - Rich Girls and R. Kelly - I'm A Flirt. I've had a lot of Djs ask for the accapellas for the Virgins songs but I was told that they weren't being given out til the songs for the record had been cleaned up and perfected. Anyway, this is just the first wave of many remixes/mashups etc for the Virgins music. It's not very good but I'm told it was just a 5 minute improv thing that Palms OUt Sounds posted for shits and giggles.
Here you go, courtesty of Palms Out Sounds:

CYHSY and T.I. billed together @ Duke Univeristy

+

Ok so I was told by a member of CYHSY that their show at Duke University this past Saturday night was (to my surprise) not a so good an experience.
I asked, shocked "why? what happened? did the equipment fuck up"
He said: "we were there opening for T.I.- do you know him?"
Me: laughing and smiling "so this was one of those college free shows for students spring concert thing and they tried to please indie and hip hop heads"
Him: "we got booed and when we were finishing our set and Alec said that this was our last song, they cheered! It was terrible-worst band experience of my life"

I decided I didn't want to say anything about it but then I went to Idolator and saw this about T.I.'s performance... Check this out, its really funny that Duke thinks they can do this (since this is a regular occurrence):
"T.I. may face legal action after he allegedly botched a Saturday-night concert at Duke University, partially because he had to attend an "unrelated dinner" at P.F. Chang's Lucky Bistro." -Idolator. Full article in Duke newspaper here.

Recap of Virgins and Jet show

Donald after the show:
All my pictures are blurry and my camera broke mid show, but I'm waiting on Aron's Glob to post the one's he took from stage etc... I have some afterparty pictures too if you go my flickr page

It was the Virgins 6th show since starting the tour with Jet... they are getting the hang of the live show slowly but surely... But I gotta say, when they opened, the floor at Webster was packed with fans (not like friends of the band but real fans!). They really got a lot of love from the NY show. They have an EP out that they are selling on the road with them as an FYI if you happen to read this blog and are going to any of the shows.

Just Jack is not just from Will & Grace

This LDN native started djing at 15 and got heavy into the Grime (UK's abrasive brand of hip hop) scene. His first album "The Outer Marker" released in 2002 was given the cold shoulder, barely making a dent in the UK. "Overtones" is Just Jack's sophomore release on Mercury Records, having reached number 2 on the UK charts with the single "Stars In Your Eyes." People have taken notice and he is not playing sold out shows in the UK and being compared to the likes of Mike Skinner aka The Streets. However, Mike Skinner is the farthest from Just Jack. The media sees two white guys rap/talking over grime-ish beats in London with a storyteller quality and assume they are the same. Anyways, my favorite song has to be "Disco Friends". Check em out, I guarantee you'll like em

TONIGHT:

Tigercity can't commit, so what else is new?!?

In the lax culture of hooking up and non-dating and def non-boy/girlfriends, its getting harder and harder to commit to just one person even if you know they're the one you want (for the time being). Tigercity's new song is all about this. "I'm easy/ It's nothing that you do/ It's everything the other girls do" I love Bill's vocals in this... very "smooth" as they like to call their pop sound.
